Fred Rowson of Blink Productions directs a futuristic, 15-minute cosmic adventure of a short film to coincide with the release of Years & Years' new album of the same name, Palo Santo.
The film is set in an otherworldly, dystopian AI universe where the few remaining humans amongst a thriving population of androids are enrolled into Groundhog Day-esque cabarets, forced to perform night after night for said androids in the hopes of triggering some kind of emotional response.
Starring Judi Dench as a megalomaniac AI mastermind, Ben Whishaw, Thai actor Vithaya Pansringarm and Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander, the film features two music videos also directed by Fred for the band in their ongoing creative collaboration. It's a visual feast of queer sexuality, glittering science fiction and the surreal tensions that are signature of Fred's work.
