Advertising Week, the world’s largest annual gathering of advertising, creative, entertainment, marketing, media and technology industry leaders, today announced initial plans for the 5th global edition of Advertising Week Europe. The 2017 preliminary calendar is now live at europe.advertisingweek.com. Organisers have made a long-term commitment to London and the event will once again feature many of the city’s most beloved and iconic venues.
The 2016 edition of Advertising Week Europe attracted over 30,000 attendees, more than 10,000 delegates and over 700 speakers from across the advertising and creative industries, with thought leaders and evening performers including F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell, IPG Chairman and CEO, Michael Roth, actor Stanley Tucci, actress Joanna Lumley, Hearst UK CEO Anna Jones, boxers David Haye and Anthony Joshua, comedian Jack Whitehall, and musical artists including All Saints, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Jack Garratt. 2017 preliminary highlights include:
· Lancaster House will host the 5th anniversary Opening Gala joining St. Paul’s Cathedral, St. James’s Palace, Guildhall and Southwark Cathedral as previous Gala venues
· Cosmopolitan’s celebration of female talent returns to The Orangery at Kensington Palace, one of The Week’s many initiatives including a partnership with Women in Advertising and Communications, London (WACL) to shine the spotlight on gender equity
· The Marketing Society, the Incorporated Society of British Advertisers (ISBA) and the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) all rise in prominence with strong presence by day and by night
· Advertising Week Europe will celebrate the IPA Centenary and extend on-going support of the Duke of York’s “Pitch at the Palace” with a special edition of Pitch focused on Africa, a future Advertising Week destination, on 20 March at St. James’s Palace
· Advertising Week New York’s “Town Hall Series” crosses the Atlantic, as Advertising Week Europe stages a special seminar each day at the West End’s Lyric Theatre
· The Week Live presents “The Daily Debate”, promising fiery confrontation around issues including Brexit, the U.S. election, the rise of fake news as a threat to responsible reporting and the increasingly hostile debate between globalism and localism
· Ronnie Scott’s returns as the host of The Week’s Leadership Breakfast Series and three late night events including Vevo’s emerging artists showcase, Media iQ’s live stand-up comedy, and ESI Media hosts the industry-led comedy variety show “The Big Mistake 2.0”
· Fortnum & Mason’s Culture + Commerce lunch series returns with daily partners including Bauer Media together with WACL, Bing Ads, and Yahoo
· Advertising Week Europe’s on-going commitment to helping develop young talent includes an extension of a partnership with the IPA, which enables young industry professionals to fulfill their annual CPD requirements by attending The Week and expands to include the first-ever AWE Marketing Academy Bootcamp, a two-day intensive programme aimed at those 32 and under
· On-going efforts to strengthen The Week across Europe continue with a “Roadshow” programme, with dedicated events in January in Amsterdam, Hamburg, Paris and Stockholm
· A new European “Country Ambassador” initiative also designed to increase participation from across the continent launches in February, with dedicated Ambassadors located in France, Germany and Italy
