Optimus Editor Craig Lewandowski Cuts Award-Winning Indie Film

Optimus Editor Craig Lewandowski cut the award-winning indie film “Adventures in the Sin Bin”, a coming-of-age comedy directed by Billy Federighi, who is half of a directorial team, Gentlemen, with Go Film. The film premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival in 2012, where it won the Future Wave, Audience Award. Starting Oct. 18, it will be playing at select theaters in Los Angeles and available through video-on-demand.

Federighi's comedy stars Michael Seater as Brian, a shy teen who loans out his van, nicknamed the “Sin Bin,” to his friends for their sexual exploits. When Brian meets a 'helpful' schoolmate, Bo Burnham, and his girlfriend, Emily Meade, he finds himself in an awkward love triangle while learning the ways of wooing women.

“Billy and I have worked together on many projects, and I am thrilled to be a part of this film,” commented Lewandowski. “He brought ‘Adventures in the Sin Bin’ to Chicago because of his love for his hometown and his desire for the film to be a boost to Chicago production and post communities. Also, I was thrilled we were able to secure bigger name actors including Jeff Garlin, Tim Blake Nelson and Gillian Jacobs.”

“Adventures in the Sin Bin” is a true coming of age piece, and an homage to Wes Anderson’s style and aesthetic. It has a stylistic, timeless look, with no accessories or cars that could place it in a specific time period. It is humorous, but not in a slapstick way. At the end, the viewer cares about and empathizes with the characters.

"I wanted to work with Craig because I've had such great experiences with him on commercials we have done in the past and we have similar sensibilities,” said Federighi. “However, when I asked Craig to edit the film, I had no idea that I'd also be receiving all the amazing support from Optimus. There is no way we could have accomplished what we did with this movie without their help. I am truly grateful for everything they've done – and, of course, for Craig."
