The romantic 'Adventure is Everywhere' was made in-house at Curfew

Curfew director Abraham Felix’s latest project is ''Adventure is Everywhere', a feel-good spec film for outdoor sports and camping equipment brand Coleman. The film emphasizes the connection and adventure made possible by Coleman products, as seen through a couple prepping for a camping vacation.

The film starts when the couple puts the last of their camping gear into their trunk, ready to head out of the city. This plan is thwarted when one of them is pulled into work and has to stay home. Their partner volunteers to unpack the car and instead sets up a tent in the center of a sweet glamping set-up on the couple’s rooftop. An adventure outdoors pivots and becomes a stay-at-home camping date where regardless of the outside circumstances, connection is front and center.

Felix’s film is endearing with physical comedy cues coming from the spur-of-the-moment, romantic, spontaneous energy of the central event: a pillow falling over a banister, stealing a cushion when one partner leaves the room, a ball of string lights falling near a window where their partner is working and being fished up out of frame just in time. The film stays high energy and upbeat throughout while focusing on the sincerity of the moment.

Felix says of his Coleman spec: “When I think of spending time outdoors, I immediately think of my old blue sleeping bag, my grey camping chair, my white cooler - all of which just so happen to be Coleman brand. There's something so relatable about wanting to escape but feeling confined by life and responsibility. I've been wanting to tell a short yet satisfying love story for a while now. I love narrative filmmaking, and this project showcases my ability to do just that: working with actors, tinkering with dialogue, crafting performances where what actors are saying really accentuates a story’s dramatic tension. The story we told was poetic and special, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to have played in that space for a little while.”
