Creative agency 72andSunny Singapore has designed a limited edition collection of ‘Good Riddance 2020’ merchandise, including beers, T-shirts and cleansing sticks, to mark the passing of an unprecedented and dismal year. The playful logo expresses how Singaporeans and most of the world feel about this year, with a wry eye roll incorporated into the ‘Good Riddance 2020’ design.
Conceptualised as a passion project by the 72andSunny team, the collection includes a special twin-set of craft beers brewed in collaboration with local brewery The 1925 Brewing Co. The ‘Good Riddance 2020’ Dark Ale features a design depicting the dark happenings of the year, while the ‘Great Expectations 2021’ Champagne-inspired Lager is a bubblier concoction with a label anticipating brighter things ahead.
The collection’s tongue-in-cheek 'Good Riddance 2020' T-shirt bids adieu to the worst hits of 2020, name-checking ‘anti-social social distancing’ and ‘bubble tea drought’ among others. Meanwhile, Singaporeans can also wave off this year’s bad juju with a ‘Good Riddance’ pack of cleansing Palo Santo sticks.
“We believe creativity is a force for optimism and wanted to bring some sunshine into what has been a pretty dark year” said Jaclyn Lee, strategy director, 72andSunny Singapore.
Creative director, 72andSunny Singapore, Daniel Ko, added: “This was something the team wanted to create together. It felt like we all need to breathe a collective sigh of relief that the year is almost over.”
This initiative comes hot on the heels of the agency winning Silver for Brand & Design Consultancy of the Year by Marketing Magazine last week, and the recent rollout of its Carousell cars campaign in Singapore and its Bud Light brand launch in China. The agency worked closely with The 1925 Brewing Co. to design a twin-set of beers with special flavours representing 2020 and 2021.
“Good Riddance 2020 Dark Ale is dark and robust with a subtle hoppiness. Similar to 2020, it appears daunting, dark and tastes a little bitter, however there is a light caramel sweetness which cues the silver lining of this year - people spending more time with families. Great Expectations 2021 Champagne-Inspired Lager is bursting with bubbles and excitement which represents our hope and expectations for 2021.” said Yeo Eng Kuang, co-founder and Brewmaster, The 1925 Brewing Co.
More information on the collection can be found on the
