LBB sits down with the team at Sliced studios to learn exactly what this production studio is capable of and just how important scalable content is

Sliced Studio has been in action for around two years now, and what they’ve set up in that time is clearly working. There is so much chatter going on at the moment about how the industry is shifting its focus, particularly at this year's Cannes. Brands and agencies are searching for production partners that are able to produce content that is not only scalable, but is effective across a range of platforms. The team at sliced are skilled longform artists, with tonnes of work in documentary and features; but they are just as talented with their short form work. They’ve had a huge amount of success on the social content side of things especially. 

Even in places where the budgets are tiny, Sliced are hellbent on producing content that resonates. That’s why they’ve invested heavily in their own equipment that’s on the highest end of the spectrum. This, combined with their eclectic skill sets, results in a steep incline in the production value of the content. It’s a one-stop shop. They’re able to provide banging results in a way that is cost effective at its core, because they cut out the middleman. As the shift from TV to social is unfolding right before our eyes, Sliced has been making sure it evolves with it. Here’s how:


Barclaycard - Driving into the Future 

Teaming up with the brilliant minds at Oliver Agency, Sliced Studio took on the challenge of producing Barclaycard's new campaign. The objective? To create seamless transitions that would appear as a continuous 'one-take' experience, all while incorporating dynamic camera movements. This demanded meticulous planning and precision during shooting, with each scene scrupulously designed to stitch together seamlessly in post-production. Sliced Studio's equipment and team allowed for continuous testing and script development, resulting in fun, impactful videos that appear to effortlessly convey the thrill of driving into the future. 


Thames Water - Navigating Waters with VCCP

VCCP's witty concept for Thames Water found its perfect execution partner in Sliced Studio. Collaborating closely, they workshopped ideas to bring the concept to life. Thanks to their all-in-one production capabilities, including talent and post-production facilities, Sliced Studio delivered premium social content with speed and efficiency. Their agile approach allowed them to create a memorable visual experience. The small, yet dedicated crew, armed with Sliced Studio's top-notch camera equipment, showcased their expertise by self-shooting and lighting, proving that great things can be achieved with a creative spark and resourcefulness.


Samsung - Stemdrop: Unleashing a TikTok Trend

Drawing inspiration from the popular 'phone drop' TikTok trend, Samsung's Stemdrop campaign pushed Sliced Studio's creativity to new heights. The challenge lay in replicating the falling phone illusion using a heavy camera rig. However, Sliced Studio's team successfully captured the shots that breathed life into the campaign. The four shots were particularly challenging, but thanks to the persistence of James Davis, the shots turned out quite seamless. Emphasising the 'in-camera' filming approach, the team refrained from relying on CGI or animation techniques. To elevate the impact further, they expertly engineered purpose-built sets tailored to the 9x16 ratio - enabling Samsung's message to 'Make It Yours' resonate perfectly. The campaign proved that ingenuity and precision can produce compelling results.


Gousto - The Hungry Traveller Trailer: A Delicious Collaboration

Gousto's culinary journey came alive through some pretty snazzy work by Sliced. With a complex set build, art directed to fit the 9x16 and 1x1 formats, the team orchestrated a harmonious collaboration - taking us on a culinary trip around the globe.. A dedicated crew, including camera operators, DP, Gaffers, and various other talents, came together to deliver a mouth-watering visual experience. From the art direction to the final touches in post-production, everything was masterfully handled in-house. Sliced Studio's creative prowess, combined with Gousto's well-defined vision, culminated in a delightful campaign that left audiences craving for more.


DMC - From One Fine Thread: Weaving a 300-Year Tale

Embarking on a historical journey with DMC's partner company "Wool and the gang," Sliced Studio took on the extraordinary task of creating a 10-minute brand history film spanning 300 years. Carefully sculpting and curating the vast amount of information, they designed a narrative that captured the essence of DMC's rich heritage. The ASMR style of the video is an absolute treat for the eardrums, but the visuals are a matching one for the eyes. Utilising editors, and animators from their talented team, Sliced brought the brand's history to life, while skillfully adhering to a modest budget. The outcome was a truly gorgeous brand moment that celebrated the timeless craft of DMC.
