13CO Signs Kiwi Director Laura Sargisson

With a strong emphasis on story, Sargisson can quickly identify key narrative arcs and intuitively knows how to visually portray them honestly. She calls it “everyday storytelling” and it’s served her well. It’s an approach that sees her bring an artful empathy to a wide body of work of thoughtfully-crafted commercials and documentaries.

“I stumbled across Laura’s work in 2022 and was immediately blown away by the breadth of her work. She naturally spots nuance and authenticity in talent performances and always compliments them with stunning visuals. It also didn’t hurt that she'd directed a UFC Countdown show featuring Kiwi fighter Israel Adesanya ” Executive producer and UFC mega fan Roy De Giorgio said.

Sargisson's social campaign for Wendy’s NZ - Bacon Rehab put her on the map a few years back, using real consumers and surprising them with a staged bacon rehab session in an effort to help them reconnect with bacon responsibly. This led to a consistent and diverse palette of work. Sargisson is always comfortable working with actors and real people alike, at home directing over the top quirky comedy as seen in her Instant Finance campaign. In complete contrast, she is happy to spark conversations and challenge the norm with sensitive topics, like her emotionally charged work for the charity Kidscan. And then there is her fun Auckland Transport work which just spreads good karma!

She has also become one of NZ’s go-to directors for sports based campaigns - having recently directed signature work for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Mentored for a number of years by legendary NZ film and television producer Bruce Everett, Sargisson is fresh to the Australian market.

Sargisson is also currently developing her first feature film.
