Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to join a growth focused communications agency at a pivotal point in its expansion.
This is a new role that will support the continued delivery of our clients’ marketing activity, drive the content and communications activity of the agency itself, and help support new business development activities.
Too Many Dreams is dedicated to breathing life into B2B tech brands. We bring clarity and vision to brilliant ideas, ensuring that a seemingly complex proposition is easily understood and ready to command attention and consideration from tastemakers to decision-makers. Powered by a distributed team of award-winning specialists with first-hand experience building and scaling tech brands, we create and deliver marketing strategies that drive value and get our clients noticed.
The Role
The Content and Communications Director will be responsible for setting the overall strategy for our clients’ marketing activity and then delivering this with the support of our distributed team of freelance specialist. They will be responsible for understanding and shaping our clients’ goals and expectations and then organising the team to ensure the outcomes anticipated are delivered.
The role will require both a good head for strategic thinking and the tenacity to roll your sleeves up and get the work done.
The right individual will touch almost every part of the organisation and will be immersed in the marketing and communications activity for all current clients, as well as supporting the overall marketing and commercial aspects of the business, in collaboration with the founder.
Responsibilities
External Client Facing
Work with our Founder, our Client Account Manager and our freelance specialists to develop and execute inventive and effective content and communications strategies for our clients.
Draft press releases and pitches that are compelling to the media and our target audiences.
Develop trusted relationships with our clients, gaining a thorough understanding of their businesses and company objectives so you can make meaningful communications recommendations.
Brainstorm visual and copy ideas with clients and agency team.
Own the client content and communications KPIs, keeping a regular eye on progress to ensure they are met or exceeded.
Advise clients in a timely manner if a strategy is not going to deliver the anticipated success and proactively propose alternative approaches for consideration and approval.
Understand, anticipate, and meet client needs.
Set objectives in line with client and agency needs, which may include scope, content, timings, and budget.
Agency Development
Identify and build close relationships with key journalists across media, marketing, advertising, technology, and entertainment sectors.
Develop and deliver a robust and ongoing content and communications strategy to drive awareness of both the founder’s personal brand and that of Too Many Dreams.
Help with new business outreach and development of pitch proposals alongside the founder.
Take the lead on researching and recommending new ways Too Many Dreams can use new technologies, for example generative AI, to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the agency and the solutions it provides for its clients.
Internal
Comfortably take responsibility for successful delivery of projects on-time, within scope and within budget.
Work closely with our Client Account Manager to plan work and set deadlines to meet the agreed needs of the client and agency, with these plans documented within our ClickUp project management software.
Keep abreast of the industry, market, and competitor landscape.
Develop and deliver an SEO-informed content strategy for the agency and then write a regular series of blog posts, promoting both the agencies work, success, and world view.
Experience
10+ years’ experience in an agency, brand-side marketing, or similar background.
A formal qualification in Marketing, Communications, or Creative Writing would be a benefit but not essential.
We are hiring for temperament, tenacity, and team spirit, rather than any specific educational background.
A passion for creative writing that both entertains and informs will be essential – we would love to see examples of your creative output as part of the recruitment process.
A solid network of media contacts across all platforms and experience pitching stories to them.
Skills
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of a business, from c-suite to individual teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Company Values
EXECUTIONAL EMPATHY
We are generous and lead with empathy, to craft and deliver marketing strategies we are proud of that will inspire the audiences we wish to serve. We value the emotional intelligence that’s required to lead with empathy and strive to create meaningful connections, with our team, our clients, and our partners.
APPLIED EXPERTISE
We are proud of the knowledge we have built up over our careers and share this freely with our clients, colleagues and partners. However, we never BS. If we don’t know the answer, we will tell you. And we will then find someone within our network who does.
CONNECTED CRAFTSMANSHIP
We are thinkers and we are doers. One cannot be successful without the other. But we apply critical thinking first, connecting the dots between ideas. And then we act, with discernment. And we always act in a manner that is in the best interests of our clients. Integrity, trust, and reliable execution are paramount.
COMPASSIONATE CANDOUR
We will always be open and honest in our opinions, but these will be grounded in a compassionate understanding of your unique situation. This isn’t ‘radical candour’. And it’s not about always agreeing. But it is about agreeableness. Being contrary is easy. Agreeableness is having a contrary position but being pleasant about it.
ARTISTIC PASSION
We care. About the work, our clients and each other. We approach our work like artists and strive to be agents of positive change. We believe in the emotional labour, hard work, and time necessary to achieve greatness. No shortcuts.
Equal Opportunities Statement
Too Many Dreams strives to be an equal opportunity employer. Our goal is to employ a diverse workforce that is representative, at all levels, of the people we serve. We believe the more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.
All applicants will receive consideration for employment based on merit, competence, performance and business need. We will not discriminate due to race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, marital status, medical condition or any other legally protected category.
Our aim is to create an inclusive, welcoming environment, empower our teams and embrace diversity.
