A 3D Generalist must have in-depth 3D knowledge and the ability to devise and create complex models and effects to an exceptional standard. They must demonstrate a true understanding of the subtleties of modelling, the texture of surfaces, the lighting of 3D creations and the ability to seamlessly bed an effect into a scene.
Expert level modelling and texturing in Maya, ZBrush and Mari
Demonstrative experience and knowledge of advanced 3D modelling and texturing for VFX.
Advanced rendering skills
Skills in Tracking
Familiarity with pipeline issues and a typical post-production environment
Expertise in general compositing principles
Strong aesthetic sensibility, good use of colour
Confident in the visual exploration of abstract concepts
Creative and design-oriented.
Strong communication skills are critical. Must be able to work within a team, taking direction and exercising attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment
Self-motivated problem solver
A working knowledge of Arnold, Renderman, or Mental Ray
High level ability to produce great looking imagery across a range of styles; from photoreal CG composited against live action through to stylised fully CG work
A good understanding of animation and an eye for motion
A familiarity with scripting e.g. C++, python, hscript or mel is beneficial
On set supervision and data capture experience a plus
Have the ability to deal with client issues quickly and effectively, seeking assistance when required.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients providing assistance and advice as and when required.
