At the initial rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, over half of all LGBTQ+ adults were vaccine-hesitant due tomistrust of the healthcare system. This was largely fueled by misinformation on social media: Facebook and Twitter account for about 72% of the rumors and conspiracy theories around the COVID-19 vaccine.

We partnered with GMHC for a social-first campaign to shut down misinformation at its source. Loud and proud “Ms. Information” is a drag queen activist whose singular mission is to “slay myths and serve facts” about the vax. Ms. Information addresses the unique concerns of the LGBTQ+ community with humor and without judgment. In memorable, shareable clips, our “vaccinista” dispels medical misconceptions and convinces skeptics to get vaccinated.

In Fall of 2021, we launched our website, along with “Falsies/Factsies,” a series of mythbusting posts regarding the latest on boosters and variants. 3 months later came the “Slay or Nay” 8-video series, in which Ms. Information replies to misinformational posts à la “Celebrities React.” All the while, Ms. Information amplified her voice at live events and speaking engagements for the community—including guest starring on the VAX ON Podcast and hosting GMHC panels about vaccine advocacy.

In 2022, we continued to raise awareness around COVID-19 safety. In March 2022, we launched Ms. Information’s GIPHY channel of her most meme-able moments, giving users the power to clap back at vax misinformation with Ms. Information herself. For PRIDE weekend 2022, we dropped “Shot Girl Stunner,” a 30-sec earworm with moves to match. With each chorus, we remind our audience to ‘mask, sanny, boost, and test’ to safely celebrate PRIDE. This clip was released across the TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter platforms.
