After initial creative conversations with the agency we were tasked with creating a composition that had the production values and feeling of an existing track and that captured the energy and spirit of the NBA and the characters in the spot.

The feeling was that the piece needed to have attitude without falling into anything too aggressive and obvious and also needed to leave some space for any sound design to cut through.

It was at this stage that composer Philip Kay decided to construct the beats and backbone of the track from basketball court SFX. He took to his local courts to capture various sounds and then built a hip-hop track out of the field recordings.
