LIQUID ASSETS

Cult Wines approached The Berry with a brief to create disruption and noise within the wine investment space. The idea was to create a series of viral stunts, which would provide exposure and recognition for the brand.

The Berry provided 3D and Visual Effects creative solutions, that involved ‘stunts’ throughout New York City, particularly Wall Street, where the money and investors reside. This was a challenge involved post-production, intense creative development and a shoot in New York City too. The Berry captured two stand-out creatives that would make a huge impact on social media through an influencer strategy led by our partners and friends at The GOAT Agency.

BILLBOARD VFX STUNT

Combining Live Action footage with 3D/CG Animations, The Berry and Cult Wine teams filmed various locations in Wall Street, NYC and created seemingly impossible digital billboards. Breaking down the walls of Wall Street, The Berry faked an impossible marketing illusion by opening up huge building structures, revealing a clever ‘wine = money’ hourglass 3D creative.

Due to the dynamic nature of this creative, it required specialist visual effect techniques. After modelling the wine shaped hourglass, heavy liquid and physic simulations were calculated for the wine bobbing at the top of the glass and the coins piling up at the bottom. Once the animations were complete, the scene was textured and lined up correctly within the live action footage, resulting in a seamless (VFX) illusion.

CORK VFX STUNT

The cork stunt was designed to look believable. Achieved through 3D and visual effects - The Berry captured the live action footage and compisited 3D cork assets into the scene. Camera shake and realistic ‘UGC’ zooms made these films look 100% authentic. The shooting team also filmed certain shots with a mobile, to give it a user generated, social media aesthetic.

The footage needed 3D camera tracking, which allowed the 3D cork to ‘stick’ into the scenes correctly. A bespoke Cult Wines cork was modelled and textured in 3D software. The most important stages of compositing, included: correctly masking the cork to appear on the buildings, colour matching the cork to the environment and adding digital billboards onto the buildings for the final, realistic touch.
