Objective

As England were set to reach the finals of UEFA Euro 2020, fans were singing the football anthem, ‘It’s Coming Home’. Creative agency Who Wot Why wanted to tap into this spirit and the importance of home for their client Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity.

The ‘Coming Home is Everything’ quick turnaround campaign would tie-in with their ‘Fight for Home’ campaign. Both campaigns call on the public to come together to fight for a solution to the UK’s housing emergency, a crisis affecting 1 in 3 in Britain (34%) - some 17.5m people

Development

Who Wot Why commissioned LEAP’s Film and Post team to edit and animate their DOOH and social media video campaign, ‘Coming Home is Everything’. To reach audiences in time, LEAP needed to complete and deliver the campaign within a day.

Working with the client’s graphics, LEAP’s motion graphics editor animated the text and added film grain effects to fit the storyboard and tie in with the look and feel of the agency’s earlier ‘Fight for Home’ film and imagery. LEAP also provided a range of audio edits for the agency and client to select their winning campaign. Football stadium sound effects were rejected in favour of a hip-hop instrumental echoing the powerful vibe of the ‘Fight for Home’ rallying cry.

LEAP’s producer ensured efficient workflows and communication to get the most out of the tight turnaround time. The team ensured all assets met the quality and technical specifications required by the various media owners who were poised to activate the multi-channel campaign.

Results

LEAP delivered the impactful campaign in time for it to reach a wide audience across social media and DOOH locations. ‘Coming Home is Everything’ achieved more than 100 thousand views as part of Shelter’s Facebook campaign and encouraged viewers to sign up to join the fight to end the housing emergency.
