With 12 official languages and a cast array of accents and dialects, South Africa can honestly say that voice command technology never loved us. The average South African will use a vibrant mixture of different languages and words when communicating, so this complicates  things even further.

But the new Nissan Magnite Range is equipped with Nissan Connect Voice Recognition, which incorporates natural language-understanding technology. Which means it has the ability to estimate the user’s intention from vague utterances and vocal nuances when deciphering and actioning commands.

To demonstrate the way Nissan Voice Connect Technology understands South Africans, we used homophones and words with multiple meanings to tell stories that sound like gibberish to those who can’t speak the language . But those who do, know what’s REALLY being said –- just like the new Nissan Magnite Range with Nissan Connect Voice Recognition.

Bheki’s Bae

In this spot we overhear two gents gossiping about a scenario between their friend and his girlfriend which is playing out at a nearby table. It seems the friend is too caught up in his food to notice that his girl is checking another guy out.

Nono’s surprise

In this spot we hear two friends arguing in hushed tones while hiding at a surprise party. There’s confusion about when the guest of honour will be arriving.

Lala & Lolo’s Sleepover

In this spot we hear kids making a ruckus. Mom comes in to bring an end to all the noise-making , instructing everyone to go to bed.
