To stop the campaign of hate against their trans children, courageous parents came face to face with the leaders of the ruling right-wing party in Poland. On International Transgender Day of Visibility we published videos on politicians twitter’s profiles in which parents responded to their hate speech. For the purposes of the campaign, we also created a series of documentaries presenting the parents of transgender children, Storytel launched a podcast about coming outs and the entire front page of the most popular newspaper in Poland was covered with an authentic coming out letter written by one of our heroes.
Within a month and a half, we reached over 20 million Poles, familiarize them with the topic of transgender. The world media such as The Washington Post and The Independent wrote about the heroes of our campaign. The US State Department intervened in defence of Polish parents and their transgender children. The rainbow butterfly effect worked. As a consequence of all these actions, the government cancelled their already prepared hate campaign. Not bad for an action initiated by a group of ordinary parents.
