Kia’s Winter Retail spot was meant to inspire Kia lovers to get outside and enjoy the beauty of winter. From the get-go, the music was intended to be a focus of this campaign and the goal was for it to be optimistic, bold, and purposeful. There was also a request for lyrics to be a feature in the spot, but they came with one flag; to feel the call for an adventure together without leaning too much on relationship/love as a lyrical foundation. During our briefing call, one song came to mind that hit ALL these notes beautifully. ‘Let’s Get Lost’ was written by Ali Willa Milner and Breagh Isabel with that same challenge; to pen a song about adventure that can speak to anyone who’s willing to take one. The two women were paired together at a song camp for our company's publishing arm. It was during the deepest point in the pandemic, and while writing over Zoom, they were easily able to access the required subject matter thanks to a serious case of pandemic wanderlust. Breagh then took what they had co-written and produced what can now be heard on the Kia campaign.
'Let's Get Lost' became a fast favourite with our agency partners and eventually beat out a long list of both original music tracks and other needledrops. Since airing, ourselves along with our agency partners and Kia, have received many requests for the full length track. The song spoke perfectly to the sense of wonder we feel from the story on screen. Since requests for the full track are still rolling in despite the fact that the commercial is no longer running, it’s safe to say ‘Let’s Get Lost’ had a stronger impact than we all could have imagined.
