eBay was the original home of sneakers collecting until it was overrun with fakes. While eBay’s new Authenticity Guarantee combats knockoffs, sneakerheads and sellers were slow to return.
So to get them back on the platform we took eBay authenticated sneakers to where legit masterpieces are kept - museums. The Museum of Authentics housed rare, priceless and game worn sneakers including the Mona Lisa of sneakers worth $1M. The collection was under 24 hour security guard, featured an eBay sneaker by YEEZY’s Cesar Idrobo, a live Authentication Station, gift shop by P.A.M., and panels and talks featuring famous sneakerheads. To promote the event and honour the sneakers as the art they are, we reimagined renaissance masterpieces to replace loots, skulls, exotic birds and fruit with authentic sneakers.
