To celebrate Black Music Month, 1983 partnered with Platoon and NPR to produce a Tiny Desk performance like no other before it. 

Taking inspiration from Adekunle Gold's album "Catch me if you can", which featured themes of traveling from country to country, we created an airport lounge setting that took us back in time to the 1970s golden era of luxurious travel.  

With high creative expectations and the budget of a non-profit driving us forward, our team had to think creatively to set dress and design a scene that we could live in for a full 15 minute performance. We even utilized record label employees as extras and went prop shopping at yard sales. But the end result was one of the most celebrated and talked about NPR Tiny Desk sessions to date.
