Matilda Bay’s all new Aussie Wheat Ale is light, zesty and bursting with a taste unlike any other. Yet at the time of its release, taste, or lack thereof, was a trending topic – as people took to social media to post about losing their sense of taste due to COVID.
We saw this as a perfect opportunity to launch the beer. We scoured social media for taste influencers and journalists who had recently posted about contracting Covid. 7 days later, we sent them a Non-Rapid Taste Test, to help them see if they could appreciate flavour again.
The box appeared like other ‘rapid’ tests, but inside was a can of our Aussie Wheat Ale with instructions that guided users how to sip it slowly and savour the different tasting notes. If they could detect them all, their taste had officially returned.
A tongue in cheek way to get coverage for the taste credentials of the beer on a limited budget.
