The Guardian Podcasts

The Ask:

As the medium grows in popularity, The Guardian sees podcasts as a core part of their future. 

A-MNEMONIC were commissioned to create a new audio identity:

- A sonic logo to be used across all their podcasts. Flexible enough to cover the broad range of titles.

- Find and cast a group of five, diverse ‘continuity voices’ to introduce each podcast, and reflect the distinctive Guardian character and values.


Objective: 

Increase attribution. Differentiate the Guardian Podcasts from others.  Increase the Guardians sponsorship.

Audience:

Everyone who listens to podcasts.


Creative:

Develop a distinctive musical “sound” that evokes call and response, question and answer, the back and forth of ongoing and growing conversation, leading to tangible change for the better… 


Scope: The Guardian has 5 regular podcasts, all with their own distinctive feel.

Comfort Eating, Football Weekly, Science Weekly, Politics Weekly and The Audio Long Read.


Results: 

An original sonic umbrella, housing a variety of different podcasts under one cover.  Distinctively communicating The Guardian’s ethos in…  just a few seconds.
