We are delighted to submit Chitra Ganesh + Saul Williams: Before The War to the Immortal Awards 2022. 

Before the War, featuring music by Saul Williams, interweaves hand drawn figurative imagery with archival footage from Indian silent films, contemporary news imagery, Buddhist iconography, and South-Asian pictorial forms, connecting these with contemporary visual languages of comics, science fiction, and archeological research. This is a reflection of the Chitra Ganesh continuous exploration of femininity, religion, and politics. The ebb and flow of the film visually shows the change and multifacetedness of people and challenges the viewer to reflect their own understanding of art.

Prior to creating the animation for Before the War, the STUDIO was the animation partner for Chitra Ganesh for a major installation at the Rubin Museum and for exhibitions at The Kitchen. the STUDIO is a Creative Animation and Production Company in its 35th year. As creatives, artists, and animators, we appreciate the opportunity to share our passions with the world.
