Our initial premise was “Gumtree does nothing but deliver you good products, reliable services. Good finds”.
With this in mind it was important that the actual Gumtree part of the spots felt real, clean, straightforward… taking place in the real world.
Given all that, our approach contrasted the no-frills dependability Gumtree stands for - with to the bombastic all-frills, sleight of hand approach every other selling service depends upon.
Jim Hoskin and the creatives had a clear vision, they wanted it to be distracting, overwhelming, absurd and invasive.
It's even good to mention that we sold the hot-tub used on the ad through Gumtree, proving that no mascots or fanfares were needed.
