Extremely proud of our latest work for Lay’s and 180 Kingsday, which celebrates the brand’s ongoing relationship with the UEFA Champions League. Watch Lieke Martens, Lionel Messi and Paul Pogba battle it out off the pitch for a bag of Lay’s in this fun, high energy spot.
We were initially briefed to find a recognisable, upbeat rock track to emphasise the chaos of the stadium crowd, but after much exploring we felt this rebellious sound worked against the brand's messaging. Digging further into the archives, we found an unknown 1950’s gem by the famed American film composer John Barry ‘Let’s Have a Wonderful Time’. The song’s quirky, fun and lyric reference complements the lively, festival-like and playful atmosphere of the film.
Head of Production, Jonathan Watts comments on the project, “Whilst the song is recognisable in its style and tone and wouldn’t sound out of place sat next to an Elvis Presley track, it doesn’t sound typically like John Barry; think James Bond, Born Free and Out of Africa. This gave us leverage to negotiate the fee down to fit well within the client's budget and offer the brand a unique and unexpected soundtrack to their campaign.”
