When we think about our carbon footprint we often think about cycling to work, eating less meat, or whether we recycle enough- the tangible things in life that feel within our everyday control.
What we don’t consider is how our internet usage also makes up a considerable component of our personal impact on the environment.
Our internet usage generates CO2, meaning whenever we’re scrolling through our feeds, Facetiming our loved ones, or responding to e-mails, we are contributing to greenhouse gas emissions into our atmosphere.
This spot considers: what is our carbon thumbprint of our internet usage?
Damon Cameron’s Carbon Thumbprint TVC for the internet provider Belong, takes the invisible environmental impact of our internet and re-imagines it as oppressive CO2 blocks of clouds clogging up our otherwise beautiful Australian landscapes; forcing the viewer to consider the impacts of their choice of internet provider.
