Helmed by Anton Tammi, the same director behind ‘Heartless’, ‘Blinding Lights’ sees The Weeknd continue his Las Vegas bender, as he speeds around the city, and dances in the street. The visual is an 80s fever dream, with bits of Knight Rider, Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger’s ‘Dancing In The Street’ thrown in.
Abel Tesfaye naturally zooms around the city in a new Benz, after first debuting the single with the Mercedes-Benz EQC campaign, where he also served as Creative Director.
Sin City isn’t the only location that crops up in the video, as Abel dances around downtown Los Angeles including the historic Cicada Club, where he becomes entranced by a cabaret singer. From there, the psychedelic trip continues, like a slick car commercial on acid.
Since making his feature film debut in the new movie Uncut Gems, Abel has been showing off more of his acting chops in these cinematic visuals.
The video, produced by Somesuch, recently won the 2020 MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year.
