Trucking is a lonely job. On average, truckers spend 240 nights away from home each year. 1/3 say the isolation negatively affects their mental health.
We decided to do something about it by bringing together two first class brands – Mobil Delvac and Pedigree – to create a first of its kind relationship: Mutts4Trucks. This unique collaboration between engine oil and dog food helped dogs in need of a home find truckers in need of companionship.
We brought awareness to the program through digital, social, radio, and in the places where truckers spend a lot of their time: out-of-home and point-of-sale messaging at TA truck stop locations that publicized adoption events. Then we monitored the vitals of both driver and dog.
After two weeks, the average increase in driver happiness was 71%. The average increase in steps taken per day was 88%. And the average increase in dogs time spent being active each day was 53%. Proving the positive impact dogs and truckers have on each other’s health.
That’s good for dogs. Good for truckers. And better for everyone on the road.
