As any
parent will tell you, when you’ve got kids, going on a family holiday takes the
precision planning and execution of a military operation. This film follows a
family as they set off on a summer holiday but instead of driving in the car,
they take off in a Chinook helicopter. Mum and Dad are not just parents,
they’re like drill sergeants, and they’ve packed all the necessary survival
gear, like laptops and gaming devices. There’s a tactical pit stop at Argos to
pick up supplies and of course the inevitable unplanned wee stop. Thanks to
careful planning and help from Argos, the family arrives at the
holiday campsite (leaving a trail of destruction in their wake) ready to let
the summer holiday begin. The chaos and drama of the action are juxtaposed by
the saccharine summer holiday classic, ‘Summer Holiday’ by Cliff Richard. The
ad was shot on location in South Africa and the Chinook was created in
CGI.
Argos
is a much loved British online and high street brand – shopped
at by around two-thirds of the UK population. In recent years, it
has transformed from traditional, catalogue-led retailer to super-slick,
omnichannel giant, rivalling the likes of Amazon. In 2016, it was bought
by J Sainsbury’s, which meant it could offer customers even more
ways to shop – in-store, same-day home delivery, and Click & Collect
at more than 850+ stores, including more than 230 inside Sainsbury’s
supermarkets.
Previously
famous for ‘fast’, its new positioning ‘You’re Good to Go’ puts customers at
its heart, celebrating the hectic nature of modern family life and showing no
matter what you are doing, Argos moves at the speed of your life, to get you
what you need, when you need it.
