The Aria is a low cost 3D-printed digital stethoscope that delivers a cost-effective telemedicine solution for remote patient care using rock and roll audio recording technology.
The prototype is in beta and demonstrates how health services can be made more affordable with scalable telemedicine. By designing affordable product design around a revolutionary algorithm, we are showing the way to producing an affordable, sanitary stethoscope that aims to reach the people most in need of telemedicine solutions. The design of the device is made possible through 3D printing, and would be a fraction of the cost of an average telemedicine solution. Bongiovi Acoustic Labs’ MDPS algorithm is specially calibrated and verified for commercial and medical applications. It adds depth, clarity, definition and stereo field imaging to any audio signal in real-time. Through creative partnership Bongiovi asked J. Walter Thompson NY to incorporate this patented audio technology into a medical device for the first time.
Additionally, we have designed an affordable hygienic shield that reduces germ spread. We have been working with Tufts Medical Center since 2016 in an ongoing research study (with IRB approval) to validate both the Aria hardware design as well as the MDPS audio processing algorithm for a variety of cardiac conditions. Our work with Tufts was instrumental in creating the internal acoustic design especially for difficult-to-hear murmurs such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Targets for this study have included differentiation between conditions that sound similar as well as making demonstrable improvements in auscultation relative to an industry leading stethoscope. Bongiovi also has a forum of over 300 physicians who have weighed in at various stages of development. This great team of professionals has provided invaluable feedback for pulmonary, cardiac, vascular and other clinical applications.
Alongside, J.Walter Thompson is also helping with data analytics on market research and sizing to being the product to life.
