Gun violence in the U.S. is a vicious cycle. This film shows each part of the cycle through a series of metaphors following a school shooting. Protests are represented by posters. Thoughts and prayers are bubbles. Public debate is a rocket. The media frenzy is a stack of TVs with actual news coverage of mass shootings. The gun lobby is a fan. Politicians are bobbleheads. And a janitor wipes everything up, just as everybody forgets about gun violence…until the next shooting happens. The cycle repeats three times, and each time, a CTA reads #VoteForOurLives.
Throughout the film, there are numerous Easter Eggs. The classroom number in every cycle stands for the date of a school shooting. The 17 backpacks we see represent the 17 students who were shot and killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. And the total number of annual gun deaths are shown on a scoreboard.
