Challenge 

Veolia is Europe’s leading company for ecological solutions with regard to water, waste and energy management. In Belgium, however, Veolia was still unknown. 

Veolia wanted to raise brand awareness among industry leaders in Belgium. They also wanted more businesses to ask for their help in fighting climate change. 


Idea

Instead of highlighting Veolia's strengths to attract prospects, we used a different approach. We let nature do the talking to attract businesses. 

“What if nature was in charge of its own communication, what would it say?” 

That's the message we wanted to bring with the data-driven platform Pulse of Nature. 

Veolia’s sales team used nature’s priorities to convince companies to act immediately. 


Execution 

Our concept is firmly rooted in data, using it as a tool to give nature a voice in the fight against climate change. 

For the first time, 9 different governmental datapoints on climate, consumption, land-composition and much more were gatherend onto one platform. An algorithm, defined by the ULB University and endorsed by environmental experts, defined in realtime nature’s priority for each different region. 

Recognizing the different characteristics of each region, all data-input is
the area's composition. Think about the number of households, companies, industry, forests, grassfields, ... in the area. The role of weather (including forecasting) on energy-production and water consumption. 

This particular combination of datapoints, offers an unbiased snapshot of the environmental state of each region in Belgium.

This data not only gives nature a voice but also sets actionable priorities. That message was automatically pushed through programmatic DOOH (Digital Out Of Home) and dynamic social banners in that specific region. Whenever a priority shifts, new billboards are activated with updated messages. Furthermore, our data served as a compelling tool for the Sales team of Veolia, reinforcing its persuasive power and spark companies in the neighbourhood. 

From the start, it was the goal to reduce the impact on nature. So instead of only showing a detailed view of the problems, the platform focused on region-specific solutions companies could implement today. From desalination in regions close to saltwater-bodies, to circular waterfiltering reducing toxins in rivers. The tool demonstrated a deep understanding of local environmental challenges and their potential solutions.

Veolia-experts keep a close eye behind the scenes, monitor and analyze data triggers and predictions, continually enhancing the platform 


Results 

Our innovative use of data had a big emotional big impact! It made a worldwide problem feel local and personal. 

The number of companies visiting our site went up by 934%. 

The number of businesses interested in us went up by 321%. 

Because of this success, other countries are also interested in using Pulse of Nature to encourage companies to act now!
