“Black Antenna” is a dark, sci-fi thriller set against the
backdrop of the Alice In Chains Grammy-nominated 2018 album ‘Rainier Fog’. Ten
music videos (one for each track on the album) tell the story of an alien
father and daughter struggling to survive, elude capture and communicate with
their mothership. It is a dark, and sometimes bizarre alien film which manages
to tell a surprisingly human story – exploring very relevant concepts about
immigration, homelessness and xenophobia.
The LA-based director, Adam Mason, contacted the artists
through their Instagram account after being blown away by their APDG
award-winning experimental short film, Double-Blind No.1.
A true collaboration, the director gave full creative
freedom to the artists to take inspiration from the footage and music, and to
modify, recut and corrupt anything they saw fit. The resulting music videos are
a visual feast of heightened dark imagery and random “footage-fucking”.
