VML announced today the appointment of Eric Campbell as CEO of VML North America. Based in New York City, Eric will oversee VML’s North American offices, driving growth and fostering closer collaboration for the region’s capabilities and offerings. He will also continue serving as VML’s global chief client officer, reporting to Global CEO, Jon Cook. The dual role ensures a unified approach to client service and growth across VML’s North America region and its global network.
The appointment comes on the heels of a strong growth year for VML in 2024, fuelled by growing client demand for integrated solutions across Brand Experience, Customer Experience, Commerce, and Enterprise Solutions. In this newly formalized role as CEO of VML North America, Campbell will focus on continued business growth, regional leadership and cross-collaborative operations. Eric will also work closely with Global President Mel Edwards to drive strong connections between North America and VML’s global offices, facilitating the sharing of best practices and expertise to enhance client value, creativity and innovation.
“After a strong year in 2024, I’m excited to build on that momentum with our North America teams. The strength of our leadership, our celebrated creativity and our expansive capabilities in this region are unmatched. I look forward to introducing new innovative offerings, like cutting-edge AI capabilities through WPP Open, to VML and WPP client partners in the year ahead,” said Eric.
Eric has led a remarkable tenure of more than 25 years with VML, demonstrating his deep commitment and impact on the organization. He has consistently driven strategic growth, spearheaded key new business wins, and cultivated strong client relationships. His leadership has been instrumental in developing unified capabilities across North America, connecting the agency's offerings, teams, and communities. His focus on top-tier clients and expertise in leveraging VML's connected creativity across its integrated offering will be critical to the agency's ongoing success.
“Eric’s leadership has been an integral part of VML’s growth through many chapters, and his passion for the agency is truly inspiring. VML North America generates more than 40% of our global revenue—a figure that is steadily increasing—so establishing a dedicated CEO role for this critical market is a strategic priority. Together, we'll continue to innovate and create meaningful value for clients in North America and across our network,” said Jon.
VML North America’s strong performance is evidenced by recent new business wins, including Grand Marnier, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Kohls, Krispy Kreme, Perrigo, Pizza Hut and TruGreen. The agency is also experiencing rapid business growth in key practices like Health and Commerce; both are projected to continue their momentum through 2025.
VML has received significant industry recognition in the past year, including being named “Most Creative U.S. Company” by Cannes Lions (2024), ranking #2 Most Effective Agency Network by Effie Awards U.S., earning D&AD Agency of the Year (2024), and being recognized as a "Leader in Commerce Services" by Forrester (The Forrester Wave, Q2 2024).
