Stept Studios announces the merging of its creative and entertainment divisions, a strategic move designed to create a more seamless, integrated approach to storytelling across campaigns and brand funded entertainment. Leading this evolution is Davey Spens, who has been named head of creative and entertainment, bringing a wealth of experience across advertising, branded entertainment, and original content development.
With a career spanning agency strategy, creative direction, and entertainment, Davey has worked across every major frontline of culture. Prior to joining Stept, he served as executive creative director at Pulse Films, where he led branded entertainment, live music, and content development for global clients. His background includes creative roles at AMV BBDO and The Brooklyn Brothers, as well as founding Boat Studio, a London-based design and publishing studio. At Stept, he has played a pivotal role in developing branded entertainment projects, working with leading brands to merge commercial storytelling with a cinematic, audience-first approach.
"The future of production companies will be defined by how we approach ‘entertainment’—not just in traditional media but across digital platforms, branded content, and immersive experiences," said Davey Spens. "By bringing together the best of agency thinking and entertainment storytelling, we are positioning Stept as a place where brands and audiences connect in meaningful ways. This allows us to work even more seamlessly across disciplines, delivering culturally relevant stories that move people."
Stept’s new unified structure is built on a collaborative creative process that maximises crossover opportunities, ensuring that while working on commercial and branded content, it inspires entertainment content—and vice versa. As more companies, from small disruptor brands to larger organisations that need specialty creative services with built in production services, the Stept creative and entertainment team has become the starting point for longer term relationships with Marriott’s The Luxury Collection, Snap, Salomon Sports, Oakley, and recently launched Angel Margarita.
"Davey brings a rare combination of strategic thinking, creative vision, and leadership expertise," said Nick Martini, co-founder of Stept.. "His ability to develop engaging, culturally relevant campaigns and stories for brands and audiences—makes him the perfect leader for this next chapter at Stept. We’re excited about the ways this new structure will allow us to push storytelling even further."
