Psychological thriller ‘Lifeline’ produced by Anonymous Content and talent behind films such as Birdman, The Revenant and Her
Mobile technology provider Qualcomm and Ogilvy & Mather have released a campaign, entitled ‘Lifeline’ that blurs the lines between Hollywood action film and branded content. The lightly branded short film is disguised as a psychological thriller and stars Olivia Munn (Magic Mike, The Newsroom, New Girl) and Leehom Wang (the ‘Justin Bieber’ of China). It is produced by the Oscar winning team of writer/director Armando Bo (Birdman), Vincent Landay (Her, Adaptation) and Steve Golin (Spotlight, The Revenant).
The action-packed short takes place in Shanghai and subtly highlights the cutting-edge capabilities of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 mobile processor as Kai (Leehom Wang) sets out to rescue his missing girlfriend (Olivia Munn) with the help of their mobile devices. At its core, Lifeline illustrates how a major technology company like Qualcomm is tapping a new entertainment model to demonstrate the power of their product in front of a diverse audience (the majority of the film is shot in Mandarin with English subtitles as a way to appeal to and drive awareness of the technology within the Chinese market, among a larger global audience).
Check out the trailer below and the full film at the bottom of the story.
The full film is followed by ‘Inside Lifeline’ episodes that take the viewer behind-the-science into the making of the film while also diving deeper into the capabilities of the Snapdragon technologies featured within Lifeline. All content will live on YouTube as well as this landing page and will be promoted in the US, Brazil, India, the UK and others.
