IBM, Park Pictures, StillKing and The Visual Effects Company all joined forces recently in order to achieve these three visually stunning commercials. It quickly became apparent that Motion Control was essential for this project and StillKing contacted the team at VFXCo in order to break down how Motion Control was going to be used and how to achieve the creative needs required by the client. For a job of this complexity an accurate pre-vis was required for each commercial. The VFXCo using it’s 3D Rig Chase software technically broke down each pre-vis camera move taking into consideration lens data, speeds, timings, rig envelop and take overs after which, a final solve was signed off prior to the shoot. All this upfront work resulted in a challenging but smooth and rewarding shoot.
The shoot took place over a period of 9 days working across two different stages at Barrandov Studios, Prague. We sent over a Milo Motion Control rig with a 2 man crew along with our 3D Rig Chase artist. On-set from day 1, there was already a great working relationship between VFXCo crew, the director, DP and production. The heavy involvement from each party prior to shooting resulted in a clear cut understating as to what was required from each department once on-set, and the thorough working pipeline that had already been set up.
We are extremely pleased to say how happy IBM, Park Pictures and StillKing are with the end result and how well the whole project went. We are thoroughly looking forward to working with this team again in the near future.
