Young Female DOPs Release Intimate Short Film for International Women’s Day 2019

Ten DOP’s from Illuminatrix Rising, a collective new wave of female DOPs, teamed up with Kodak and Cinelab London, Europe's most comprehensive film lab, to celebrate International Women’s Day 2019. The DOP’s chose to venture out-and-about with Super8mm film cameras in order to shoot an artistic series of short film clips to help demonstrate this year’s theme of “balance”.

In honour of International Women’s Day, the ten female DOPs, worked on each of the participant’s film clips before they were edited down into a two-minute film. This short film serves to promote their work and celebrate each of their artistic achievements and the talents of young women working in the industry.

The film clips include a range of different people portraying various types of simple scenes such as boxing, looking in a mirror, driving, and laughing. Working with Super8mm film cameras, the DOP’s pushed their creative skills to the max to capture distinctive lighting and perspectives with the aesthetically unique medium.
