tokyoplastic has a new exhibition entitled Arthropod Brain which will run at the Toy Art Gallery in Los Angeles from 9th - 23rd March 2013. The exhibition is a joint venture with Barcelona based designer Emilio Garcia who is widely known in contemporary culture circles for his Jumping Brain characters and figures. tokyoplastic and Garcia who share a fascination for plastic and toys collaborated previously in 2009, which is when the idea for an exhibition was born.
As the title suggests, the inspiration for the work in this exhibition centres on insects, bugs, macro photography and electron microscope imagery fused with Garcia's trademark brain designs. The artworks are framed 3D printed insects, larger 3D creatures on plinths and large 2D prints, all of which will be for sale.
tokyoplastic was formed in 2003 by Sam Lanyon Jones and Andrew Cope, born out of a joint fascination with contemporary Japanese culture, art and design. In addition to their prodigious character animation output which includes award winning commercials for Nike, Fanta and Toyota, and several short films they also produce vinyl toys

Emilio Garcia is the creator of the worldwide phenomenon Jumping Brain which has enjoyed massive success with a series of collectable artworks made at the Secret Lapo Laboratories

The Toy Art Gallery is based in Hollywood, Los Angeles and is the first gallery of its kind to showcase and consult on high-end art toys and sculptures.
