Chloe joins tinygiant for US representation

tinygiant Signs Director Chloe Coestee

Brooklyn-based production company tinygiant is pleased to announce their newest roster addition, director Chloe Coetsee. tinygiant is Chloe’s first US representation.

Chloe’s work distills humanity into all its awkward glory. When she isn’t competitively lip-syncing or sending obscure voice notes, Chloe is smashing ideas together to realise unlikely situations that will spark joy in audiences, delivering them with deadpan comedic timing.

Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Chloe grew up riding dirt bikes and tractors and talking to her imaginary friends. She went to boarding school at the National School of the Arts for high school, studying drama. Discovering her true passion in these formative years led her to university at AFDA Film School where she earned a degree in Film Direction and Screenwriting.

Chloe began her directing career shooting music videos, then quickly landed a short documentary series for the Discovery Channel. Extremely tight timelines and limited supplies of 16mm film rolls required thinking quickly on her feet and developing a sense of agility that serves her to this day. The profile pieces Chloe delivered about diverse and quirky local characters allowed her to flex her comedy muscle and develop her particular brand of humour.

Somehow capable of being the life-of-the-party and an avid people-watcher, Chloe brings a big personality to all of her work. Over the last decade, Chloe has earned a few Cannes Lions, some D&AD Pencils, a Webby, and a couple of CLIOs. Her notable campaign #YouPeople for Nando’s with agency M&C Saatchi Abel tackles unconscious biases through relatable humour. The ad allows us to examine our own failings and share a laugh over the absurdity of the snap judgments we routinely make about one another, shattering stereotypes in the process.

“I’m super excited to enter the US market for commercials and short-form work,” says Chloe. “I feel that all the projects I’ve done up to this point have prepared me, through experience and time, to really show the States what I’ve got to offer.”

“Chloe’s unique voice and stellar timing is a breath of fresh air,” says Veronica Diaferia, tinygiant founder/executive producer. “It’s important for us to represent a true spectrum of amazing talent, and we’re very proud that Chloe will be another woman on our roster. Her comedic wit and quick-thinking are a perfect addition to our talented team.”
