Three Sony/ATV Artists Are Nominated for Artist of The Year at AMA Awards 2017
Sony/ATV songwriters The Chainsmokers, Drake and Ed Sheeran have each secured five nominations at the 2017 American Music Awards
All three acts are shortlisted for Artist Of The Year at the 45th annual event, while Sheeran (“Shape Of You”) and The Chainsmokers (“Closer”) are both competing in the Favorite Song – Pop/Rock category. Sheeran and Drake are also in contention for Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock.
The Chainsmokers’ other nominations include Collaboration Of The Year alongside Halsey for “Closer”, Favorite Duo Or Group – Pop/Rock and Favorite Artist – Electronic Dance Music. Sheeran is shortlisted for Favorite Artist – Adult Contemporary and his song “Shape Of You” is vying for Video Of The Year. Drake is competing for Favorite Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop and Favorite Album – Pop/Rock and Favorite Album – Rap/Hip-Hop, both for More Life.
“Despacito”, which was co-written by Sony/ATV songwriters Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Erika Ender, is nominated for Collaboration Of The Year, Video Of The Year and Favorite Song – Pop/Rock, while Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee are shortlisted for Favorite Artist – Latin alongside Shakira.
Sony/ATV signing James Arthur is in the running for New Artist Of The Year, while the company’s other nominees include Alessia Cara and Lady Gaga, who are both shortlisted for Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock, Calvin Harris, Khalid, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett.
In all Sony/ATV’s songwriters are represented on more than 30 nominations at the event whose ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 19 and will be broadcast live on ABC in the U.S.
