Los Angeles-based post house Therapy has signed acclaimed sound designer Eddie Kim.  Prior to joining Therapy, Kim spent seven years honing his unique sound sensibility through top national advertising campaigns at 740 Sound Design, in addition to crafting the sonic environments for numerous feature films, shorts, documentaries, music videos and video games.  His dynamic audio has bolstered spots for such top agencies as Saatchi & Saatchi, Wieden+Kennedy, 72andSunny, BBDO NY, 180LA and RPA as well as collaborations with such lauded directors as Daniel Kleinman, Stacy Wall, Dante Ariola, Noam Murro and Stacy Peralta.  Kim’s sonic stylings were notably featured in ‘12 Super Bowl spots “A Dream Car. For Real Life” for Kia out of David&Goliath and the classic cartoon character-infused “Everyone” for Metlife out of Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

Kim has also lent his audio acumen to feature films including 8 Mile, Riding Giants, Dogtown and Z Boys and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and top video game titles including “Prince of Persia: Warrior Within” and “Enter the Matrix.”

Notes Therapy Executive Producer Joe DiSanto, “We’re insanely excited about Eddie joining Therapy! Eddie’s work speaks for itself, and combining his talents with those of our editors and other artists, makes Therapy an incredibly strong company.  The whole team is ecstatic.” Adds Kim, “Therapy has the right vision of how the industry is changing.  I’m excited to be a part of their evolving business model and to have the opportunity to work on a wide range of creative projects.”

While earning a BFA in Film from SF-based Academy of Art University, Kim developed his audio style by immersing himself in Bay Area culture as a highly sought-after D.J.  After a year working on projects with local Outpost Studios, he headed south to Los Angeles where he spent the next five years as a Sound Designer at Danetracks, Inc., before landing at 740 Sound Design.

His thoughtful audio sensibility infused with a fascination for culture and music has also been showcased in renowned shorts such as The Gift, which was honored with a Craft Grand Prix Award at the Cannes Film Festival and The Last Daydream, helmed by pioneering director Chris Milk.  Throughout his career, he’s consistently received prestigious awards from international creative awards shows including London International, AICP, D&AD and the Clio Awards.  On the web, Kim has lent his talents to an educational animated web series that teaches the Abc’s of literacy to children around the world.

Kim also recently contributed to a Los Angeles MOCA installation for a project created by C.R. Stacyk.
