Landra has enjoyed a distinguished editing career, working on films such as Leon, the Fifth Element and Luc Besson's Joan of Arc
The Quarry has announced that editor Sylvie Landra has recently been accepted into AMPAS; the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, better known as ‘The Academy’ or the Oscars.
The invitation comes off the back of her very distinguished editing career which has featured no less than four Cesar nominations for films including Leon, the Fifth Element and Luc Besson’s Joan of Arc.
In the world of commercials, she has collaborated with some of the industry’s best directors including Frederik Bond, Phillippe Andre, Nima Nourizadeh, Romain Gavras, Anthony Hoffman, Psyop, Floria Sigismondi, Fred Garson and We Are From LA to name a few and has cut for brands from Orange, Peugeot and Air France to ID Magazine and Dior Homme.
With the very recent initiative “Free The Bid” calling upon support for female directors, Sylvie’s invitation to join AMPAS heightens how important it is for the few female editors in the advertising industry to also be recognised for their achievements and talent.
“On behalf of the Academy, I am honoured to extend membership invitations to distinguished filmmakers, artists and executives who represent the best in our global film community, and who have made a lasting impact on movie fans everywhere”, says Cheryl Boone Isaacs, The Academy’s President.
The Quarry’s MD Tim Page adds “Sylvie’s passion for exploring different styles; from comedy to sci-fi, drama to rom-com and even extending to political thriller, has earned her respect not only in editing but also the movie world as recognised by this accolade and we are pleased to have her working with us.
With 2 more commercials currently in the pipeline, Sylvie will be available for new projects in October & November, so please get in touch.
