The new development project aims to enhance the online marketing capacity of Australian tourism businesses

Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) CEO Mark Williams has announced the appointment of agency SapientNitro to partner with the company in its plans to develop a centralised platform.

With the aims to enhance the online marketing capacity of Australian tourism businesses, the new development project will deliver a technology platform that operates on one centralised database, reducing costs for development and maintenance over time.

As a result, all State Tourism Organisations will now be working to a single national data standard, reducing the risk of variations in data across States and providing a national and consistent interface for operators regardless of their location.

The ATDW determined through an assessment and feasibility process that implementing a modern, centralised model and replacing existing applications provides the best functional and strategic fit for the organisation. The strategic context for the project includes the objectives of improved value, future proofing and cost effective business imperatives.

As a result, an open market tender with an evaluation process followed, to identify an innovative digital provider which could support ATDW through state of the art technology and consumer relevant content, ensuring ATDW continues to be valuable to industry and would be as cost effective as possible.

Commenting on the appointment, SapientNitro’s managing director - Brisbane, Stephen Forth said: “We are excited to be able to bring our unique blend of creative and technical imagination and agile prototyping approach to help ATDW build and optimise their data platform.”

“Working with the ATDW team is an exciting assignment, given the complexities the brand operates in. This is another great activation engagement for the Brisbane office and we’re delighted to be able to help them bring to life an immersive and holistic connected experience for the Australian travel industry,” he added.

“As many tourism organisations and travel businesses rely on the ATDW database for their websites and applications, the ATDW will be treating its ongoing service with the utmost care during the development phases of the new platform.  During this time the ATDW will have a “Business as Usual” approach and ensure as far as possible that service standards are maintained during this evolutionary phase,” commented Williams.
