The campaign from Marcel Sydney runs with the tagline 'Sit Closer Together'

For many, 2016 was a year of real division for many around the world. From intense topics that include racial tension and political opinion to the seemingly mundane lifestyle and music fads (think invasive mobs of Pokemon Go players and endless Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen remakes), people everywhere have had more reason to voice displeasure, conflicting matters of opinion and strong sentiments across the year.

Amidst what must have felt like a constant wave of negativity, Tiger Beer embarked on a street movement across four international cities to celebrate diversity and to draw us all closer together through great beer and street food – Tiger STREATS.

In partnership with chef Chan Hon Meng, of the first Michelin-starred hawker stand Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle in Singapore, the Tiger STREATS world tour was a series of pop-up dining experiences  pairing two chefs who live worlds apart but share the honour of top culinary accolades. Since its launch in November, Tiger STREATS has cooked its way through Sydney, Auckland, New York City, concluding successfully in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The results speak for themselves:

In Sydney, 1,800 dishes were served to hungry fans who turned up in droves having won tickets to the event.

In Auckland, over 5,600 litres of Tiger Beer was shared over two days as participants enjoyed this unique opportunity to grab a bite of Michelin-quality street food

In New York, 600 people shared food and ice cold Tiger beers as Chan Hong Meng and fine dining Chef Christopher Kostow wowed diners with a mix of asian and modern American fine dining

Extending beyond this street food activation, Tiger Beer has also launched a thought-provoking video that calls out diversity and how this contributes to the rich fabric of society, aimed at delivering the important message of strength and unity in diversity, and how we can all find common ground at the street food table.

This video follows the contrasting lives of eight radically diverse Asians; including a champion female Mui Thai boxer, a comicon fan, a retired man, a transgender "Katoey", a high-flying entrepreneur, a young delivery guy and a Kung Fu Grand Master. As bizarrely diverse as the group first appear, they are all ultimately united over a shared love for a cold Tiger beer and a plate of street food, under the banner 'SIT CLOSER TOGETHER'.
