The NMPA’s Gold & Platinum Program honours songwriters whose songs have been awarded gold, platinum and multi-platinum status by the RIAA based on U.S. sales and on-demand streams
Sony/ATV have received the NMPA's official Top Publisher Award at their 2017 event. The company received the accolade at the trade association’s inaugural Gold & Platinum Awards Gala, which was held Thursday night at the Bridge Building in Nashville. It was accepted by Sony/ATV Nashville President/CEO Troy Tomlinson.

In a statement, Sony/ATV Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said: “On behalf of all of us at Sony/ATV and in particular our songwriters who made this all possible, we are honoured to be the NMPA’s first ever Publisher of the Year. What a great event and we’ll be back here next year, hopefully with the same result.”

Around 50 songwriters attended the ceremony, which was held as part of the NMPA’s Gold & Platinum Program which honours songwriters whose songs have been awarded gold (500K), platinum (1 million) and multi-platinum (2 million plus) status by the RIAA based on U.S. sales and on-demand streams.

Around 30 Sony/ATV songwriters were honoured with gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, including Michael Carter, Monty Criswell, Chris DeStefano, Sean Douglas, Heather Lynn Morgan and Jody Stevens who all attended the ceremony.

Multi-platinum awards went to the following Sony/ATV songs:

“Die A Happy Man” (Sony/ATV songwriter Thomas Rhett)

“I Don’t Dance” (Dallas Davidson)

“Play It Again” (Dallas Davidson)

“Springsteen” (Eric Church)

“This Is How We Roll” (Luke Bryan, Cole Swindell)

The NMPA honour is the latest Publisher of the Year award for Sony/ATV in 2017. It was previously recognised at both the 2017 ASCAP and SESAC Pop Awards and achieved the so-called Triple Crown for a second successive year after winning Publisher of the Year at ASCAP, BMI and SESAC’s respective Latin award ceremonies.
