SKUNK has announced the signing of acclaimed film maker Amanda Blue to its roster for UK and transatlantic representation.

Born and raised in Sydney, Amanda moved to London to complete a Masters’ Degree in Film and began her career working for Oscar nominated feature-film director, Mike Figgis. She honed her craft under his mentorship and went on to produce many of his documentary films.

Amanda is a critically acclaimed documentary filmmaker in her own right and has been writing and directing documentaries and drama for the past 15 years. She turned her hand to commercials in 2013.

She is now known for telling compelling human stories. Whether she is directing actors or real people what chimes in all her work is a feeling of emotional authenticity. She has a fierce sense of justice for, and loyalty to her subjects and a faithfulness to the complexity of the human experience.

She is currently directing a film for the FCA (Financial Conduct Association) at SKUNK London with M&C Saatchi. She is also prepping a documentary-style piece in association with Brothers and Sisters. In the past she has worked with clients including VW, The Co-Op, Haven, Dove, Fairy, Pampers and Persil amongst others.

Amanda’s commercials have garnered various awards at Cannes, Kinsale, LIA awards and the New York Festival. As a documentary film-maker she has been nominated for a Best Director BAFTA as well as a raft of other local and international awards including a Banff for Best Unscripted Series. Her films have sold across the world.

London MD Kate Taylor says: “Amanda is just brilliant in every way. Her documentary work is fascinating and compelling and her commercial work reflects her considerable experience in that field. That said, I am convinced that her already strong reel has the potential to evolve further. She’s a whirlwind of energy, empathy and passion and I just love having her around. We are already working on two projects together, and I’m confident that there’ll be plenty more to come.”

Recently In 2016 Amanda wrote and directed the critically acclaimed drama documentary ‘Deep Water’ for Screen Australia. To date, the film has been nominated for fourteen awards, including Best Director and Best Feature Documentary at the AACTA awards in Australia.

This year Amanda’s writing for ‘Deep Water’ took Joint First Place with Jane Campion’s writing for ‘Top of the Lake’at the New South Wales Premier Literary Awards. Quite an achievement.

According to The Telegraph, “It’s up there with the best crime documentaries of the recent past…. leaving audiences with a sense that justice still needs to be done…”
