Sid Lee Collective, a program within global advertising network Sid Lee which funds, produces and showcases personal creative projects of staff, presents the inaugural "Missed The Boat Party” on Saturday April 30.
This party is uniquely designed only for the unfortunate tourists who come to celebrate Queen's Day - unaware that since 2013 The Netherlands has had a King, and accordingly a King’s Day celebration three days earlier.
Online travel agency Expedia expects even 44% more ‘late tourists’ than last year.
On Saturday, Sid Lee Collective will wait for these unfortunate tourists at Amsterdam Central Station and Schiphol Airport, then escort them to the "Missed the Boat" party on the Amsterdam canals, giving them a ‘consolation party’ to remember and ensuring their visit to Amsterdam is not in vain.
The Sid Lee Collective “Missed The Boat Party” provides a scaled-down simulation of King's Day three days earlier, with a boat cruise, DJs and drinks – and even orange ponchos should rain fall.
So if you see a sad tourist dressed in orange wandering the streets of Amsterdam – send them to our special celebration!
