The new 'Surprise Keeper' browser extension is a smart way of keeping your surprises a secret

As we celebrate the spring holidays, Sberbank – the oldest and the biggest bank in Russia – and Leo Burnett Moscow decided to do something nice and useful for all the lovers out there. A keeper of your savings, the bank has volunteered to become a keeper of something just as important — your surprises. From now on, Google Chrome will feature an extension called “Surprise Keeper” to help internet users shopping for gifts for their loved ones to keep their plans secret until Day X.

Have you ever tried to surprise your dear one with a gift only to find him or her not quite surprised? So much for all your preparations… An unpleasant experience. The truth is, sometimes we are being betrayed by our own actions without even noticing it. If sharing a laptop at home, do not expect to be able to google for, let's say, a gift ring in secret — context ads are going to expose you the very next day! Sberbank and Leo Burnett Moscow wish everybody great holidays and present Surprise Keeper — a special Google Chrome extension to replace your context banners with perfectly commonplace ads, such as of socks.

This is how it works. Download the extension at: http://sber.me/?p=PUZ. A Surprise Keeper icon, styled as a lock, will appear in the top browser panel. Click on it to select the subject for which to replace all your personalized banners — socks, beauty care products or home appliances. Presto! Your girlfriend will now think you are considering (oh no!) a kitchen mixer / your boyfriend's only thought will be: “It cannot be socks, indeed?”

Sberbank wishes you many an enjoyable holiday, and let your surprises remain secret!

Mikhail Tkachenko, Senior Art Director, Leo Burnett Moscow: “The idea had come from a real-life insight: Evgeny’s birthday was coming and his girlfriend Ira talked us into giving him tickets for a match played by Manchester United, of which he is a hardcore fan. He appeared thrilled to bits when receiving the gift. But after a while he told me that, a couple of days ahead of his birthday, the PC he was sharing with Ira began flashing ads that went: “Visas to the UK,” “Air tickets Moscow – Manchester,”etc.”

Evgeny Shinyaev, Senior Copywriter, Leo Burnett Moscow: “The only surprise element left was the match itself: I did not know what match the guys had bought me tickets for. That was how the Surprise Keeper was made up. We hope now, thanks to Sberbank, fewer people will have to fain surprise when receiving gifts”.
