REWIND Named Official HoloLens Partner, Reveals Mixed Reality Red Bull Air Race

REWIND has been named as one of six new Europe-focused partners announced by Microsoft HoloLens to help the mixed reality platform shape the future.

Alongside Black Marble and Fundamental VR in the UK, France’s Holoforge and Immersion and Zuhlke in Germany, REWIND is now an official production partner  through the HoloLens Agency Readiness Partner Programme,.

As part of the programme, REWIND delivered an experience to demonstrate the future of live sports viewing. Building on their strong relationship with Red Bull Air Race, the team conceived the idea of ‘Flight Deck’. The mixed reality experience lets fans get a better understanding of the complex rules and regulations of the sport and get closer to the action of this exhilarating competition.

Flight Deck takes the excitement of the Red Bull Air Race to a whole new level. The proof of concept takes the user through the Abu Dhabi opening race and allows the user to: learn the rules of one of the fastest sports in the world, from the Start Gates to how to take a Chicane; watch a live race with TV feeds and witness for the first time more than one plane fly head-to-head; and stand next to a 1:1 scale Edge 540 plane as if you were in the hangar, all within touching distance.
