The reel highlights SACA's dedication to celebrating and preserving Asian cultural traditions

On an ongoing basis, ad agency PPK spotlights local multicultural businesses and community organisations that are rooted in history and driving impactful change, often with pro bono business highlight videos showcasing the business, its impact and its people. Through this work, PPK seeks to elevate inspirational local voices of creativity and diversity within its home community, the Tampa Bay Area.

In celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, PPK is highlighting the Suncoast Asian Cultural Association (SACA) because of its profound commitment to preserving Asian cultural heritage.

As 2024 marks the Year of the Dragon, the SACA Golden Dragons and their story is a shining representation of this Lunar New Year’s horoscope: growth, dedication, and innovation.

What started in 2015 as a modest dragon boat club in Tampa, has evolved into a nationwide community dedicated to celebrating and preserving Asian cultural traditions. SACA’s mission is that of passion, determination, and camaraderie as they paddle together through dragon boat festivals, world championships, and beyond. Throughout their performances, festivals, and outreach programs, their unity amidst diversity underpins their spirit, defining them as a formidable force both on the water and in the local community.

Aside from dragon boat racing, SACA actively enriches the Tampa Bay area’s cultural awareness and understanding of Asian culture with other vibrant traditions like dragon dancing, lion dancing, and tanggu drumming.

PPK dedicates its creative resources to amplifying diverse community voices throughout each year, working with eight local organisations in the past three years including The Rose Dynasty Foundation (Pride Month), Black Stock Footage (Black History Month) and La Segunda (Hispanic Heritage Month).

This will be the agency’s first time collaborating with an Asian cultural organisation for AAPI month. PPK is also expanding the series by featuring additional content on its social channels to provide more behind-the-scenes footage on the true game changers of Tampa’s community.

PPK is committed to fostering a culture that is welcoming, supportive, and merit-driven for everyone, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, lifestyle, life experiences, personal challenges, age or worldview. The agency believes that embracing diverse viewpoints and unique talents helps develop innovative approaches, bring life to new ideas, and create an impact within these walls and throughout the community.

The highlight reel for SACA Golden Dragons went live on social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Threads) on May 1.
