Agency takes home four gold, three silver and five bronze

Ogilvy China once again dominated at last night’s prestigious Greater China Effie Awards 2015 held in Xi’an, taking home 12 top prizes - the most earned by any agency this year.

Top winners include the 361°Asian Games campaign, Visit Britain’s whimsical “Great Names for Great Britain,” and Qingdao Beer’s World Cup campaign. Huawei’s launch of Mate 7, created by TEAMHW (a WPP group that combines resources across seven agencies) also went home with a gold. In addition, Ogilvy China’s work for Tripadvisor, Audi, Yili and other clients led to three additional silvers and five bronze.

Since its inception in 1968, the Effie Awards have taken root in 15 countries around the world, and is one of the premier judges of advertising effectiveness, intended to greater recognize and encourage success in marketing communications. Showcasing some of the best creative marketing cases that Greater China has to offer, the Effies Greater China is not only an awards competition, it is also a platform on which the planning community works to raise and advance the standards and benchmarks of effective planning.

361° won their gold in the cultural entertainment & sports events category for building a campaign with world champion swimmer Sun Yang as he playfully ribs his main rival Park Tae-hwan in the lead-up to the Incheon 2014 Asian Games – a campaign that strengthened 361 °’s brand power and attracted more attention from young consumers.

Qingdao Beer was awarded for redefining the meaning of content marketing during the World Cup. "Great Names of Great Britain," another excellent example of content marketing, has already been highly lauded this year, having won two Gold and a Silver Lion at the 2015 Cannes Festival of Creativity, plus a Platinum Award at the 2015 Asia-Pacific SABRE Awards earlier this year.

Huawei’s Mate 7 won gold in the electronic products category for giving a mid-range phone a higher identity, tapping into their target consumers need for gaining power through their product.

"Ogilvy China has once again made some brilliant achievements on the Effie stage,” said Mickey Chak, Chief Planning Officer for Ogilvy China. “This is thanks to our long history as one of the world's leading creative agencies in the market, our deep insight into customer demand and, more importantly, our ability to earn the trust and support of our client so we can ultimately bring real growth and social impact to their brands."
